Finding Your Roots

There are two shows on television throughout the year that are about genealogy: Who Do You Think You Are and Finding Your Roots. Both are excellent. This is the season for Finding Your Roots which plays on PBS.

In Tuesday’s episode of Finding Your Roots on PBS, hip-hop heavyweights LL Cool J and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs learned stunning facts about their lineage. It was an excellent show, using both basic genealogy and DNA analysis to discover their heritage.

If you missed the program, you can watch it in full by clicking here:

Watch both Henry Louis Gates Jr. (host of the show) and CeCe Moore (genetic genealogist for the show) “do their thing”.  If you do watch it, the really “good stuff” is in the back half of the program.  Don’t give up early on.

Find out more about CeCe Moore at her web site

and learn more about Henry Louis Gates Jr. at Harvard University

Seriously, watch the program if you missed it.  The genealogist in you will enjoy it.
